Who it's for

The Ranger is for tradesmen on the tools five or six days a week who want one trouser to do everything. Electricians running first and second fix, who need clips, cable ties and a tester to hand. Plumbers moving between new builds and domestic call-outs. Plasterers, roofers and dryliners up and down steps and scaffold all day. If your trousers are part of your kit rather than just clothing, this is the pair.

The removable holster pockets come included. Fully loaded when you need them, off when you don't.

Fabric and build

The main fabric is 98% cotton and 2% elastane. The high cotton content gives it a softer, more natural feel against the skin and keeps it breathable through a long, warm day, while the elastane gives you stretch where you need it, through the knee and the seat, so you can crouch and climb without restriction.

Reinforcement is 100% polyamide Cordura, and on the Ranger it goes further: the knee pad pockets, the thigh pocket, the back pockets and the holster mounts are all reinforced. The holster mounts matter more than most people think. When a holster full of fixings is swinging off your trouser all day, the stitching where it attaches is what fails first on cheaper kit.

The pocket set is the biggest in the range:

• 1 ruler pocket with mobile pocket
• 1 hammer loop
• 1 waistband loop with key ring

• Knee pad pockets with Cordura reinforcement that take standard knee pad inserts

There is also a soft-touch elasticated waistband. The knee pad pockets hold standard inserts, but the trouser and pad combination is not certified to EN 14404, so check your pads if your site requires certified knee protection.

Fit and sizing

Every Tauro trouser is cut slim through the thigh and the leg. That means no spare fabric flapping round your knees, nothing catching on ladder rungs or joists, and a trouser that looks right if you have to talk to a customer on the way out. Waist sizes run from 30" to 40", in a 32" regular leg, and they come in black only.

The Ranger runs slim, so if you are coming from regular fit workwear, size up on the waist. If you are between sizes, or you are used to baggy fit workwear, go up one on the waist. The size guide has the measurements, and free returns mean getting it wrong costs you nothing.
