Who it's for
The Outlaw is built for tradesmen who want storage without the bulk. Plumbers and heating engineers working under sinks and in airing cupboards. Electricians doing second fix in occupied houses, where holsters only catch on furniture and door frames. Kitchen fitters, decorators and maintenance engineers who spend the day in customers' homes and want to look tidy doing it. If you carry your tools in a bag or a belt rather than on your trousers, this is your pair.
It also makes sense as a second pair. Plenty of lads run a Rampage for heavy days and an Outlaw for domestic jobs and the drive to the merchant.
Fabric and build
The main fabric is 60% cotton, 38% polyester and 2% elastane. The cotton keeps it comfortable against your skin all day, the polyester gives it the strength to hold its shape wash after wash, and the elastane gives you the stretch to crouch, kneel and climb without the seat pulling tight. It is a mechanical blend that moves with you rather than fighting you.
Reinforcement is 100% polyamide Cordura, placed on the knee pad pockets, the thigh area and the back pockets. Those are the spots that go first on ordinary work trousers: knees from kneeling on screed and gravel, back pockets from tape measures and phones, thighs from tools and ladder edges. Cordura on those panels is what keeps a slim trouser going long after a cheaper pair would have split.
The pocket set is practical rather than excessive:
- 2 side pockets
- 1 thigh pocket with a reinforced mobile pocket
- 1 reinforced front thigh pocket
- 1 reinforced ruler pocket
- 1 knife holder and 1 hammer loop
- 2 reinforced back pockets
- Reinforced knee pad pockets that take standard knee pad inserts
You also get a soft-touch elasticated waistband, a hidden front button so nothing scratches paintwork or worktops, and reflective prints. A note on the knee pockets: they are designed to hold standard inserts, but the trouser and pad combination is not certified to EN 14404, so if your site demands certified knee protection, check your pads against the requirement.
Fit and sizing
Every Tauro trouser is cut slim through the thigh and the leg. That means no spare fabric flapping round your knees, nothing catching on ladder rungs or joists, and a trouser that looks right if you have to talk to a customer on the way out. Waist sizes run from 30" to 40", in a 32" regular leg, and they come in black only.
The Outlaw runs true to its slim cut, so expect a close fit through the leg. If you are between sizes, or you are used to baggy fit workwear, go up one on the waist. The size guide has the measurements, and free returns mean getting it wrong costs you nothing.
How it compares
The Rampage (£64.99) is the same fabric and fit with removable holster pockets added, so pick it if you want nails, screws and fixings on your hip. The Ranger (£74.99) is the top tier, in a 98% cotton, 2% elastane fabric with Cordura on the knees, thigh pocket, back pockets and holster mounts. The Outlaw is the one for cleaner, lighter days. For the full side-by-side, read our Outlaw vs Rampage vs Ranger comparison.
Delivery and returns
UK delivery is free on every order with Royal Mail Tracked 48, and next day delivery is £5.99 if you need them for Monday. Returns are free for 30 days. Wear them round the house, check the fit when you crouch and kneel, and if they are not right, send them back and it costs you nothing.

Questions about the Outlaw
Do the Outlaw trousers run small?
They are cut slim through the thigh and leg, not small. If you are between sizes or used to baggy fit workwear, go up one on the waist. Returns are free for 30 days if the fit is not right.
What are the Outlaw trousers made from?
The main fabric is 60% cotton, 38% polyester and 2% elastane, with 100% polyamide Cordura reinforcement on the high wear areas.
Do the Outlaw trousers have holster pockets?
No. The Outlaw is the clean version with no holster pockets. If you want removable holsters, look at the Rampage or the Ranger.
Are the knee pad pockets EN 14404 certified?
No. The knee pad pockets take standard knee pad inserts, but the trouser and pad combination is not certified to EN 14404. If your site requires certified knee protection, check your pads against that requirement.

Pockets and reinforcement
Built for the wear, not the photo
Slim, so it doesn't catch
Fabric kept off ladder rungs, ridge tiles and joist corners. A cleaner line in a customer's house too.
Cordura at the wear points
100% polyamide Cordura on the knees, thighs and back pockets, where trousers actually go.
Stretch through the fabric
2% elastane woven through, so the whole trouser moves when you squat, kneel or climb.
Thirty days to prove it
Wear them on site for a month. If they're not right, send them back free.

Before you buy
What size should I order?
Order your usual waist size if you already wear slim fit. If you're between sizes, or switching from loose-fit workwear, size up. Waist sizes run 30 to 40 inches with a 32 inch regular leg. Full size guide.
Can I return them after wearing them?
Yes. Let us know within 30 days of receiving them, then send them back within 15 days for a full refund or an exchange. Returns are free.
Do they take knee pads?
Yes, there are Cordura-reinforced knee pad pockets. They're not certified to EN 14404, so if your site requires certified knee protection, check that first.
How do I wash them?
Inside out at 30°C with no fabric softener, then air dry. Softener and hot washes wear out the elastane that keeps the slim fit from bagging.
What does the 2-year guarantee cover?
Defects in stitching, seams and materials, including ripped seams, faulty zips and fabric quality issues. Not accidental damage or normal wear and tear.
